Soaps on Ropes

Yesterday in Kfar Saba, resting after being out in the sun, Leeat and I watched back to back (to back...) episodes of the new (semi-new) telenovela called "Ha'Alufa," or "The Champion." Leeat's mother suggested that I watch the telenovela because it would help me with my Hebrew skills. After sitting through five episodes of this overacted soap, I realized how much it did help. The show revolves around a character named Sar Fadeeta. Sar is an Israeli David Beckham, of sorts. Flashy, but with a good foot and amazing skills on the field. Sar's team has just been bought by the husband of his exgirlfriend, now rich after being rescued from her humble job as a waitress. It seems that Sar was actually not a jerk in his early years.

Anyway, the show delves into the lives of Sar (who later on becomes an addict and OD's), and his teammates and their lives. Very dramatic. Very easy to follow along. So not only was I introduced to the Israeli telenovela (who knew?!), I have been introduced to the Israeli heartthrob Yehuda Levi (Sar). It had to happen at some point! lashes flutter dreamingly
