Journalistic crushes

Awhile back I was discussing with a coworker of mine, weird crushes. Crushes on people we have no idea why we'd have crushes on. She thought Alexander Hamilton (the guy on the $10 bill) was hot. I thought that Anderson Cooper rocked my world. One of my favorite shows on TV is Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN. Not only did I watch the show in the States, I also belong to the mailing list and the fan club on Yahoo! groups, and I bought his book. So sue me.

Anyways, Anderson has a "blog" sort-of thing on the 360 CNN site. On his blog, Anderson writes entries about where he is, whether it be in Mumbai, New York, whatever. His most recent entries discuss his trip into Israel, especially to Nahariya, the city in the north currently being bombarded by Hizbollah katyushas. I cannot tell you how disappointed I was when I found out that Florida was not on Anderson's book signing tour. But now we are in the same country approximately the size of New Jersey. But that's besides the point.

In his first entry from Israel, Anderson is at the airport talking to Israelis and seems to be astounded by their "life-goes-on attitude." He recalls a trip to Israel a few years ago where he watched a bomb squad disassemble a bag that was left along the street. After being destroyed, the people applauded.

The people that Anderson interviews in Nahariya are Israelis in every sense of the word. They wouldn't live in Israel if they didn't realize that it was all a risk. It's a risk living in below a country basically run by terrorists, it's a risk living in Israel, it's a risk living in the Middle East, it's a risk LIVING. Period.

Most of the comments left on his blog are from people in the States: Minnesota, Kentucky (do they get CNN in Kentucky), continental U.S. I left a comment. And here is what I said:

"Bruchim Habaim. Welcome to Israel, Anderson. It IS just another day. How about doing a book signing here?"
-Shayna in Jerusalem, Israel
