Made my day :)

First things first, I get this photo of my nephew this morning. What a hoot!!! But those unfamiliar with the story behind it, have no idea why it is a hoot. So I was about 9 years old, and my father took my brother outside one afternoon and asked him to sweep up the front walkway. My brother being the dork he is asks my father, "How do I work this thing?" Well, big joke among all in our family. Anyways, here is the photo that goes with the story:

And one other cool thing happened today. I went to check my mail and I got a package from Sandy, my former art teacher who I spent a day with at the Al-Azhar Islamic School. I opened up the package and in it is a stack of marker drawings from her pre-K class who I spent an hour or so drawing with that morning. The day after I was there, the kids happened to ask her, "Where is your friend today?" And she said that I was up at school but I would love to see some of their "artwork." So she wrote my name on the board and the kids just went wild drawing pictures of me with hearts and flowers....wow, what a nice feeling. The kids made sure that she put their drawings right into the envelope so I would get them as soon as possible. When you see all the nastiness in the world, to see something so beautiful and innocent, it makes you feel that the world isn't always as bad as it seems. I hope to maybe scan a couple of these drawings. Lovely :)
