Israeli Movie Review

Ha'Hesder (or Time of Favor)

So last night, I was really bored and went to the Blockbuster on the corner of Colonial and Alafaya. I love looking at the foreign films, although I sometimes get embarassed that I'll be seen in that section), and I saw this film had a title written in Hebrew and it was sitting next to "Yossi and Jagger" (I disucssed this film, or more appropriately, it's designated hottie awhile ago). Called "Ha'Hesder" or "Time of Favor" this film centers around Menahem (played by the hottie Aki Avni), a commander of a religious flugam (or unit in English), and his friendship with Pini, a Yeshiva student in the settlement which the two live in. Pini is being pushed by the settlement Rabbi Meltzer, to make a move towards his daughter Michal, a very unorthodox rabbi's girl. Michal doesn't really like Pini, but instead likes Menahem and they begin a "courtship" of sorts.
When Menahem tells Pini the truth, Pini gets pissed a creates a plan where he, Menahem, and Itamar (a fellow settlement friend), blow up the Temple Mount (but Menahem has no clue about the plan, and wouldn't get involved even if he did know). When Pini and Itamar head to the Temple Mount, Michal turns in Menahem thinking that he was part of the plan and Menahem, in order to prevent the destruction of the Temple Mount, has to persuade the Shabak (Israeli Intelligence) that he has no clue about the plan and to help them find Pini before it's too late. Well, on the way, Itamar falls in the underground tunnels with which the three would often go to the Mikvah (ritual bath) and pray at, and gets killed. Before Pini can detonate the bomb, one of the soldier's shoots Pini and basically ends the movie.
Out of three kochavim (or "stars" in Hebrew), I give this movie all three. Go check this out at your local Blockbuster. It makes me really want to marry a hot Orthodox soldier now.
