It's official, I hate Florida.
I wrote this in my jounral on October 24, 2005, the day Wilma hit.
8:38 P.M. The calm after the storm as they say. No power in 98% of Broward county. Complete and total darkness, I am writing this using the light on my cellphone. The only sound I hear is the snoring of my father and the whir of generators. Possibly number two on the top 10 scariest things I have ever experienced. After the storm ended which was at approximately 12:15 P.M. this afternoon, the tree were horizontal. Tiles all over. Branches, shards, just total devestation. The only saving grace is the cool wind.
I left South Florida yesterday afternoon. My parents were without power and warm water until 3 P.M. this afternoon. And when I think about how bad our situation was, I think about those who lost everything. Not just in Wilma, but Katrina, etc. Please pray for those less fortunate. Within the next week or so, I'll have pictures up post-Wilma.
