A Jew, a Muslim, and a raving Goy walk into a bar...

Tuesday, during the second half of History of the Jewish People, Part II, Dr. Hanson decided to take us to the Trialogue. This event, which was sponsored by Hillel, Campus Crusade for Christ, and the Muslim Student Association (all the students of that organization are on the FBI watchlist...j/k), basically brought in the executive director of Hillel at UCF, a New Testament "scholar", and the local imam, to discuss the differences and similarities between the three religions. In the few years that they have been putting on this event, it's just snowballed. The ballroom in the Union was packed.

So my friend, Abeer the token Muslim, and I proceed to sit in the corner of the room on the floor right as the imam begins talking. Abeer had picked up a free copy of the Qur'an for me before we came in. She flips through it and leans over saying, "Do you want to see my favorite passage?" I nod and she marks off a page. I look at the Sura and it's the passage where Muhammed is given the prophetic vision from the angel Gabriel. Abeer leans over and whispers, and this is what I hear:

Abeer: This is the passage in which the angel Peter Gabriel gives Muhammed a prophetic vision.
Shayna: shaking head in absolute confusionTHE ANGEL PETER GABRIEL! WHAT!
The Entire Room: SHHHHH!

Abeer and I run out of the room and we burst out laughing. Peter Gabriel :) Ha.
