Yehuda Levi melts my butter

Yehuda Levi. Yum. 

So this is Yehuda Levi. For those who are not familiar with Israeli pop-culture, Yehuda Levi is Israel's most popular young actor (I tried to think of an American comparison, but I really can't). Yehuda is also a model for FOX, which is a clothing store in Israel and some places in Europe, which is also very similar to Abercrombie and Fitch. The clothing is very tight and for girls, often very short, and their catalogs are like soft core porn (very much like A & F's). Yehuda, especially in the FOX ad's is seen with Yael Bar-Zohar, and blondie, and also according to my friend Leeat, his ex-girlfriend (his current girlfriend must have a hard shell, cause the stuff that he does to this chick in the commercials and the catalogs, is well....a tad risque).

Anyways, Yehuda also appeared about two years ago in a movie called "Yossi v'Jagger" or "Yossi and Jagger." Here's the plot: Yossi and Jagger are a homosexual couple baased in the Golan (they are in the army). Jagger is flamboyant (like a rock star, hence the monicker, "Jagger") while Yossi wants to keep their affair secret because he is a man's man. We then have Yaeli and Goldie. Goldie is the base whore. Yaeli is a cute girl who has a crush on Jagger (unfortunately she doesn't have good gay-dar and thinks that Jagger likes her, too). Ophir, who is another guy on the base (played by Assi Cohen), likes Yaeli. Secretly he knows about Yossi and Jagger, but doesn't want to hurt Yaeli by telling her about Jagger. Long story short, Jagger gets killed in a botched mission, and Yaeli proceeds at Jagger's shiva, to tell his Mom that they might have been a couple, provided he had survived. Both Yossi and Ophir know this would never happen. But they let Yaeli keep on dreaming. Poor Ophir (he's really cute, too).

So out of curiosity, I went to the UCF library, and despite the fact that our school is located in Yenemsville (nowhere for my goyish friends), they have a large amount of books on Israeli cinema and television. One of the books there is about the up and coming genre of gay themed films in Israel. With the recent orthodox community in Israel being up in arms over the gay community wanting parade in Jerusalem, I'm not surprised that this genre is becoming more and more popular. Movies like "Yossi and Jagger" are even available on Amazon.com, and according to Leeat, at Blockbuter, where Leeat originally first rented this film (I bought it for her in Israel under the condition that I was able to feast my eyes upon Yehuda Levi over the weekend). Hey, the characters may be gay, or just plain obnoxious, but thankfully, Israel has plenty of straight, hot Jewish guys to go around. That's number 8 on my list of reasons why I'm going over there. That and so whenever I walk into FOX, I get a nice glimpse of Yehuda Levi....yum.
